The 146th BEDFORD AMATEUR REGATTA
Organised by the Bedford Regatta Committee under the ARA Rules of Racing and ARA Guide to Safe Practice in Rowing
over a course of 1200 metres on the River Great Ouse from County Bridge to the Suspension Bridge
Eights and fours only, with a ‘Plate’ event for first round losers of all events marked (P) below with twelve or more entries.
This guarantees at least two rows for all first round competitors in events marked (P) with 12 or more entries.
Winners of the Plate events will receive a prize, but WILL NOT gain ARA points as a result of their win.
Please note that entries are filling up fast, we may be forced to close entries early as we have done several times in the past. Please note that making an entry on OARA does not guarantee you a place in the Regatta
The following events are offered, though we will be pleased to consider other events if there is demand.
Please contact the Secretary if you have any suggested new events. Please also read the Further Information page.
Events
marked (P) above will be 'Plate' events if there are sufficient entries
Entry fee:
All
events cost £8.50/head (coxes free) for entries where payment is
received by Wednesday 6th May, otherwise £10/head.
Cheques to be made payable to "Bedford Regatta".
Entry details:
Payment should be sent to
the Entries Secretary:
Rachel Maltby, 47A Church End, Biddenham, BEDFORD, MK40 4AS.
Alternatively, payment by credit/debit card can be made. See the additional information page.
Entries close:
OARA entries close at 6pm on Friday 1st May,
or when we reach full capacity, whichever is sooner. Please note that we have closed early due to reaching full capacity on several occasions in recent years, so you are strongly advised to avoid disappointment by entering in good time. Please note that with the new ARA Rules of Racing in place from 1st April, it is likely that many more crews than normal will incur additional status points in early-season regattas; please therefore advise us when making your draw of any regattas that you will be attending that may change your competitors' ARA points total before the Regatta. Please see our further information page for more information on this important issue.
The draw will take place at Bedford Rowing Club from noon on Monday 4th May.
Doubling up
is at the competitor’s risk and is ONLY permitted in any
TWO events at the discretion of the Committee. Such entries will only be accepted if
they can be fitted in the programme, on the clear understanding that
programme timing must be adhered to.
Substitutions can be made online via OARA without limit before the draw closes, and in line with the ARA Rules of Racing after the draw closes.
Entries are now being accepted via the ARA's OARA system; several entries have been received already.
THE COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CANCEL ANY EVENT UNLESS AT LEAST FOUR ENTRIES ARE RECEIVED. CREWS WILL BE MOVED TO THE NEAREST AVAILABLE STATUS IF THERE ARE INSUFFICIENT ENTRIES IN YOUR CHOSEN EVENT; PLEASE INDICATE CLEARLY IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR ENTRY TO BE ‘ROUNDED UP’ IN THIS WAY.
YOU
MUST BE ABLE TO PRODUCE ARA RACING LICENCES FOR THE WHOLE CREW
ON
THE DAY OR PRIZES WILL NOT BE
AWARDED.
